My week started off in the most wonderful way, with a field trip to the Ringling Museum to see the Kimonos on display and after a really nice lunch al fresco with two of my nicest and most artistic friends, I had a small accident while drilling some mahjong tiles and ended up wearing a bandage on my left thumb for a few days now.
It's fine- no need for stitches, (teehee) and it is healing nicely, but still sore- my whole body is sore actually, from bike riding and walking and last week I shaved part of a finger with a brand new potato peeler- (its healed) so I feel somewhat shaky and accident prone and am wondering if I need to find a rabbits foot (gross!) or hide the mirrors and ladders?
I have sketched out a few Wizard of Oz inspired creations and they are patiently waiting to take shape. Please be patient with me as I heal and mend.
The reason I am focusing on 3 things each week is to help tame my chaos and have a format from which to Blog and also have more handmade products to sell when shows come around. It takes 30 days to change a habit and I may need a little bit more than that to get in the groove.
I learned some new things while viewing the kimonos and really appreciate the effort that it must involve to set up a show like that.
Sadly, no photography was allowed but in a serendipitous event- my friend Sara sent me a lovely package of JOY that included a Japanese doll-Katsuraningyo- with 3 wigs and a kimono and under garments. She is so lovely and it brought tears to my eyes at the thoughtfulness of her giving it to me.
How did she know I had always wanted a lovely Japanese lady?
ometimes the generosity and kindness of others just undoes me- it made me have a much better day...at least up until I got a hold of that drill...which we won't discuss...sometimes I embarrass myself doing such stupid things- I know how to handle tools but I forgot to bring the vise to hold the tile secure and whoops!
Anyway...so it goes...in the life of "Calamity" Kim.
