I ask: "does this look like a house?"
"Not really." he replies.
"Maybe if you add a chimney or a door, to let people know it's supposed to be a house."
I turn away and think about all the ways in which we are different.
He likes meat. I like vegetables.
He likes salty. I like sweet.
He hates clutter. I thrive in chaos.
He doesn't read for pleasure. I love to read everything, all the time!
He loves Military shows. I can't stand them.
He likes to stay in one spot. I am a gypsy.
He gets up early. I want to stay up late.
We do seem to agree on important issues like:
zombies, murder mysteries, biscuits from Red Lobster, pie and Lost.
As far as liberated quilting goes, I just don't have it in me to disagree over perceptions and free form sewing.
It is what it is.
It's been 5 years today since we walked down a rose petal strewn path, at the beach and said " I promise."
Blind faith that this was the right choice to make.
Holding hands so tightly.
His strength has helped me be strong.
My crazy kookiness has given him Joy.
It doesn't matter what happens next, we will get through it together.
I finally found my best friend and he lets me be who I am.
*insert sigh of contentment here*
