The past few days have been gray and cloudy. We need the rain. I wish it was snow.
But that won't happen. I just go get lost in other people's yards on Flickr. I saw two gorgeous, giant spider webs under the trellis but am not sure how to take a good picture. I will try. They are magnificent! I was outside to take pictures of this doll quilt...the moth quilt...I used fabrics that reminded me of the texture of moths.Burn-out velvet tea-dyed, linen, lace, striped ticking, piping.selvages and raw edges, frayed and worn, like a walk through the woods. Old, dead leaves under foot. The smell of moss and decay. Dormant. Still. Sleeping woods. Here and there a ray of sunshine. Holding hands. Skipping down hill. Stopping to look at something there on the ground.Quiet! You'll scare the gnomes! How did I get the raw edges and still have a neat seam? Well...first rip your fabric into a strip. Then iron down about 1/2 inch. Facing right side. Then line up along edge of quilt. Stitch with 1/4" seamThen iron open. You can insert a row of lace or piping in there or yarns or anything- tulle would be great.
Abandon your notions of what it's supposed to look like and go with it. Shut your eyes and imagine a walk in the woods. Gather your fabrics that tell the story. There would be twigs, leaves, ferns, rocks, birds, squirrels, maybe a rabbit. Look up- can you glimpse the sky? Is there lichen on the trees?
Texture is interesting. Use it to your advantage. Don't be afraid. Use embroidered Japanese Satins and duponi silks. They add shine. Do your eyes move smoothly around the quilt? Do they find lovely places to linger and feel content?Do you want to reach out and touch it? That's when you know it might be a good piece. Next comes the quilting. Will I do some embroidery first? Sew on some buttons? Ruching with some organza or tulle? Quilt with machine or by hand? So many choices... none of them wrong as long as my quilt tells a story and sings a song.

moth girl for Mrs Blathersby's January Challenge. Fabric rag doll with paper clay clogs and face. Primed ,sanded, painted and stained for a distressed, aged look.
Her bloomers and dress are removable, as are the wings.
Wings are these items in layers: photocopy of moth picture by Bev White, cotton batting, organza, vintage paper from song books and Japanese books and tea-dyed fabric, sewn together in layers, torn around the edges and burned. Click on image to see more pictures.

Woke up so early today.
Must have been 6 am.
Still dark outside.
Why? What? ...Fred said.
Fred said rise and shine! Those aprons don't make themselves!
I mumbled and opened one eye to see his cheerful, happy, good-morning, obnoxious-please-go-away-and-leave-me-alone-self standing there with a cup of coffee for me in his hand and a kiss on his lips.
ugh.
Never have I been a Morning Person.
Never.
Grump. Grump. Grump!!!
I come alive at 3 in the afternoon!!
Except if I get up at the crack of dawn's ass, then I am looking for a nap at 3!
So, I took my coffee and with shaking fingers, logged on and started catching up with some of my favorite and neglected Blogs.
I have been so busy, with everything but that lately.
I miss it.
It seems ironic to me that when I started this Blog I wanted to be like my hero Bloggers and have free patterns and scintillating dialogs concerning crafting and thrifting and nurturing and post brilliant pictures of delicious recipes and possibly write a book and be in magazines and have doors open for me that prior to blogging seemed as difficult to enter as the opening credits to Get Smart used to seem.
So, here I sit without any pictures. (the one with the broom is from last year. I made that apron for my friend Amanda, who has a kitchen full of gnome love.) I went and took some and added them- I couldn't stand it!
No recipes (diet)
Nothing I can share because it is for publication and I can't breath a word.
All my dreams might just come true, but with a price.
There is always a price.
So, getting up early is one of them and I gladly, grumpily pay it to have more time to read my blogs and go make stuff!
It was a delightful weekend- it was even cold- 48 one day! I rode my bike and got out of the house and felt invigorated in the cool breeze!
I finally was able to get out of the bathroom, with a little help from my new best friend.
That's sinking pretty low- linking to a diarrhea medicine!
Where are the gnomes? Where are the fairies and sweet stories to carry you off to another enchanted place full of rainbows and unicorns? Perhaps they are here or here...
I have conflicting emotions about Blogging now- I used to complain and cry about my family drama, until it hurt someones feelings.
So I stopped "getting personal".
Then, I used to post pictures of my work as I created it and that got me an offer I couldn't refuse and I haven't been the same since!
Not that I am complaining. It is certain that the only thing that stays the same is change- everything is always changing. Just when you get used to it the way it is...here comes that flighty fellow, Mr Change.
Just shaking it up.
So, as I wonder what direction the wind is gonna blow next, I consider going back to bed, discarding that idea, maybe another cup of joe...

I just wanted to mention this - in case you are somewhere snowed in to your eyeballs and getting bored...Andrea Zuill at BadBird with her Bad Ass Illustration and Painting and Quilting and Embroidery SKILLZ has given us another delightful free embroidery pattern:
and bless my hearts and stars and garters- its a gnome! whoohooo!!!!!! yeehaw!!!!
I couldn't be more tickled!
Check out her ETSY
I am also going to post these links in the Doll Quilt Crazy Group on Flickr (that I have been sorely neglecting).
We are going to be doing a landscape theme for Jan/Feb for the Doll Quilt Challenge...Come see some inspiration here. I think that it would be really cool to use photos transfered onto fabric for the landscape theme, but I know everyone doesn't have that capability. So, landscapes- of any description or composition. Whether it is a landscape of the heart or a view from your kitchen window, landscape will be the Doll Quilt Challenge Theme for Jan/ Feb. I will post a theme for March/April halfway into Feb so that those of you who want to make one can get started.

Hello, my friends!
Hope all is well with you.
I have a story to tell, if you have a minute or two.
It all began when I was forced to take on extra work, recently.
The economy being as it is and all, I had heard about an opening for Caretaker at this lovely old Orphanage.
Mrs Blathersby’s Orphange.
I just took right up with the cook, Milleford Skimpole.
She might be light on the meat in her stews but she makes up for it with okra and turnips!
Leroy is the handyman and caretaker of the actual house itself and he seems like the kind of fella I will be steering clear of. I thought I smelled a bit of the brandy about him as we were introduced by one of the nuns.
Yes, the Nuns are from The Order of The Holy Wretched and have been most clear in their instructions for my duties.
I am in charge of cleaning and spiffing up the little beasties, er, um, darlings so that they may make a good impression upon those potential parents.
I give them baths and cut their hair and sew them up some clothes.
There are donations in bags all the time at the Orphanage steps and I cart it in and weed through it and make use of what I can.
So, today this little tyke came to us by bus, with her name pinned to her apron. She is the sweetest melancholy baby I have ever laid my good eye on!
I have a few pictures, but first I would like to tell her tale, or at least what I could get out of her, for she wouldn’t speak nary a word at first.
Her Father was a Navy Man and was often out to sea.
It was not unusual for her Mother to take her to the beach to sit and watch the horizon for any sign of sails.
One day her Mother received the grave news that a storm had blown up and all hands were lost, including this poor child’s Father.
Well, day after day her Mother cried and wept and was so overtaken with her grief that she just got weaker and weaker until she was unable to get out of bed and then one fateful morning she just didn’t wake up, having gone to join Melanie’s Father up in Heaven.
Or so the Nun’s said to me when I begged to hear of parents parting.
So, little Melanie was put on a bus, having no other living relatives to take care of her and here she is with us!
I gave her a good washing, till her cheeks shined and then sewed her up a little dress from some of the cast offs donated by the good people of our town.
She has a quiet nature, really quite sad.
I let her go play in the yard amongst the weeds and daisies as I was sewing her pinafore and saw how careful she was to pick each flower gently and she may have been singing a song as she pulled each petal off, one, by, one…
She does get a might bit upset if you try to take off her slippers, though.
I don’t think she broke the skin when she kicked me in the shins for trying, but I won’t swear to it.
She said that her Daddy had bought them for her after she saw them in a shop window.
She also has a bunny and a blanket but they are in the wash, as they weren’t fit to touch by any creature with all that dirt on them.
Well, here are the pictures I promised and I hope you can find it in your heart to give her a new home.
She would be a good little girl I am just certain of it.
It was nice to see you again and I hope you’ll come back soon for more stories from Mrs Blathersby’s Orphanage.
Fondly yours, Calamity Kim
I am working on the listing (is done)***and here is the link to my ebay site once the auction begins. I am so excited- I have a bid on my Marie Antoinette!! Yeehaw!!!! There will be dolls and quilts and aprons tempting you all very soon!!! chachacha!!!

They were just looking at me sorta pitiful...
and moth girl begged me for some new shoes....
and then of course who could resist a melancholy baby?}

Here is the link for :
Mrs. Blathersby’s Orphanage for the Unattractive and Mentally Unsound Blog
On January 31st there will be dolls up for auction on eBay to benefit the Orphans at Mrs Blathersby's Orphanage.
The dolls were created by some of the old codgers, er, um, magicians that live at the Retired Home for Prestidigitaters run by Mr Pringle.
Now, I know for a fact that Harry Blackstone has been seen working late into the night for many weeks on several dolls that he has hidden all over his room. I saw one doll sticking out from his top hat, high up in his closet. Next time I go snooping, er, for a social call, I will bring the long grabbing pole used to pull bad vaudevillians off the stage. I have one, don't think I don't!!!
I was present one evening when he was working by the footlights and saw the most amazing sight!!! A moth that was flying about the lights was caught up in Harry's Magic and the doll suddenly began to morph and change under Harry's hands into a Moth Girl... I just caught a glimpse of her as he quickly tucked her in his coat and put out the lamps...I had to wait quite a while until I was sure he was gone so that I could run home to write my account for the other caretakers to read. The Auction will undoubtedly prove to be quite astonishing if all the dolls made by those strange fellows at Mr Pringle's have used their magic to enhance their doll-making skills. We shall see... We shall see...

Flickr has done it again!
Just when I was falling out of love, no, um, maybe just getting bored, with it, Flickr added another feature.
The Edit.
I wish I could do this with my life.
Press an auto-fix and have it instantly apply.
Or click on Boost or Soften and have them apply color or take away the rough edges.
With one choice your image is changed. Morphed into something like a dream. A so-so, hum-drum picture can be transformed into a work of art. Wouldn't it be lovely to do that with our own images? Or ideas? Or the other people in our lives?I feel as though this will be a year of change for me.
To be sick makes you long to be well.
To be out of pain.
To not ache.
To regain energy and strength.
My style is somewhat eclectic.
Vintage. 20's to 50's
The 60's in a pinch.
Gag me with the 70's. Brown and Orange and wide ties and plastic.
I love French anything...or Scandinavian if I am in the mood.
Gnomes and red capped mushrooms, forever.
Unicorns, ever since the 70's.
I love The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady. I always will.
Old books, lace and doilies, buttons made from shell or wood. Cameos. Pearls.
I guess I am a girlie girl.
I am feeling better. I have lost 8 pounds total since the New Year began. It could have been a virus or just the food poisoning, but I am glad it seems to be over.
I am regaining some mojo.
I am trying hard to finish part of a project for publication and that is my immediate focus.
I need to list the Marie Antoinette Valentines Advent Doll and yet, must wait for husband to help me use the new eBay template I bought, to look fancy and professional.
So much to do.
So fast the time ticks. I hear the clock as I sit and type. Another minute counted out in seconds.
As I cleaned and reorganized my sewing room, again, I kept finding aprons in progress and almost finished sock monkeys and gifts for my family and friends, unfinished, forlorn, forgotten. I put them all together on the bed in the guest room and will be deliberately finishing them as soon as this other project is completed.
Do all creative people do this? Work in fits and Starts? Inspiration born savage and fierce only to mellow, and age, quickly to something too soon forgotten?
I want to be less unfinished. I want to be more determined. I want to work harder and longer and define my days with piles of pretty little things that I made.
Getting sick or feeling sad or depressed doesn't help accomplish this. So.
There you have it.
Thank you for all your warm and kind and loving comments.
They were lovely to see, after I could get up and turn on the computer.
I am going to work.
Have a Happy weekend! I will let you know when the auction is up at eBay- probably this weekend.

I am curious- All of you coming from The Cloth Doll Connection site- what do you think about my pattern?
What do you think about my Blog?
Have you made your own Advent Elf yet?
Can you leave a comment and say hello?
I assure you that I am very sweet and nice and happy that you are coming here to see my pattern, but, it really surprises and kind of disappoints me, when you don't say anything....So, don't be shy!
Say hello!
Show me pictures if you do make one- like my friend Amanda from Australia- she just started a blog called Needle and Spoon and has a picture of her Advent Elf here. It looks like she is making another nice doll too-its going to be red & aqua, my favorite colors!
Go see her and give her a little Blogger love- she's new, but so sweet!
Tell her you'd like to see more of her sewing /craft area and her fabric stash... I am back to work- so little time! so much too do! Have a happy weekend!
I saw these lovely dolls on eBay- last night after watching the newest episode of Moonlight- I couldn't watch anything else- I had to leave the room for the video show full of accidents labeled as world's greatest idiots caught on film- or whatever he was watching...so, I drifted on ebay and did win a lovely sewing box -pink with a poodle on top! Have you seen the "Princess" sewing boxes? So lovely. So Shabby Dabby delicious! I didn't bid on any dolls, but I do enjoy looking at them. I will have several more to show you soon- I am caught up with laundry and cleaning today- then the Art Day is tomorrow- I will have pictures on Monday- wouldn't ya know it's a 50% chance of rain tomorrow? really...after months of drought...oh, the calamity!

If you read my Blog regularly, you might happen to remember back in Dec when I did the Atomic Holiday Bazaar and how a few lovely ladies that I met there invited me to come to their Surface Design Group Meeting.
Well, I did!
I never blogged about it afterward, but if I had, I would have told you about the interesting chicks and their great and diverse talents.
The Pres invited me to do a demo of the paper doll that I had made for my swap card, at the Jan meeting.
That was Tuesday Night.
I was nervous and hot-flashy, but they were gracious and kind and it was fun.
I only put one person to sleep.
And she may have either:
a. Eaten turkey for dinner
b. Been narcoleptic
c. Gotten up at 4:30 am
d. or, Not Really into paper dolls
***tee hee, forgive my jest, I was glad only one person snoozed!
We will meet again for a play day on the last Sunday of the month and everyone is going to bring their paper and scissors and we are going to share in some paper doll love!
Then, last night, they twisted my arm , sweetly persuaded me to join them for Knit and Bitch at Picasso's Moon.
So, only knowing how to do one of the two, I went!
That was amazing! Imagine stepping into a shop filled with yarns and antiques and its everywhere- on the ceiling- hanging from ladders hanging from the ceiling- and comfy chairs that you can sink in and relax and yarn like colorful candy confections that make you want to grab some kneedles and start clicking away!!! It is a very nice atmosphere with smell good stuff and soft conversations and cackling laughter (that was me) and sighs of contentment.
I learned about Scrumbles!!!
I am going to learn to crochet me some funky stuff to add to my art aprons and its gonna be awesome fun to make little sweet sweaters with flowers in 3-d for my dolls...wait that was for dogs! Well, you know what I mean!
Ladies sitting and knitting and sharing and trying to count stitches and oh, how I fell in love with some of the beautiful things they have made!
Now it's Thursday!
Wow! Is this what it's like to have friends in 3-D?
No offense cyber sisters, but I am suddenly with friends!
Pregnant with expectations and events hastily jotted down on bits of papers and phone numbers scribbled and stuck in my bag.
I am going to be at the Arts Day booth, on Sunday, with some of the other Surface Design Sisters and figured I'd better have something snazzy to wear.
Yesterday, I went G-willing with my new BFF, Sue Handman, and we found some clothes to re-purpose and collage.
I got this simple linen dress that I am going to wear with some tights and my mary janes if it isn't too hot.
I collect so many different novelty fabrics that it makes it both easy and difficult when I am collaging.
Easy because there are so many images to chose from.
Difficult for the same reason.
I had a theme in mind, from a song that I just love.Blue Moon.
You saw me standing alone.
without a dream in my heart.
Blue Moon
You know just what I was there for,
You heard me saying a prayer for,
Someone I really could care for,
And then, there suddenly appeared before me,
The only one my arms will hold.
I heard somebody whisper "please adore me"
And when I looked to the Moon,
it turned to gold.
Blue Moon
Now I'm no longer alone.
Without a dream in my heart.
Without a love of my own
written by Frank Sinatra Rogers and Hart ( I stand corrected)
So, here I am. Just playing in my wonderful studio.
Listening to music and taking breaks to play frisbee with Miss Sadie.
Sticking to the diet.
salad.
grilled chicken and burgers.
no sugah.
oh well, it'll be worth it!
Korean food tonight so I don't have to cook.
What a dream week this has become!
I will show n' tell when I finish the dress and I promise to take my camera on Sunday to get some pics to share.
Thanks for stopping by- I know I am so behind on emails but I will get over there and say hi back to all of you soon- who knew I could be this busy? I am happily running on my wheel as fast as I can go! Yeehaw!

Good Monday Morning to all my little Calamities out there! You know who you are! Yes, you, with the coffee stain on your jumper and Helena Bonham Carter hair.
We had a lovely weekend- I finished my Marie Antoinette Valentine's Day Project and washed the dog and we went to see Sweeney Todd and we had lunch/dinner at Lonestar Steakhouse. all in all, a very nice weekend.
On Sunday afternoon, when I got back from giving Sadie a ride in the car to get more of her "diet" dog food, I had a message reminding me to watch the Ace of Cakes on the Food network- the zombies eating brains cake! Thank you Troy, I am glad I got to see it! That guy & his crew make some amazing cakes! I wanted to stay up to see Jamie Oliver's new show, but we went to bed at our usual 10 pm.
I keep trying to make that 6am wake-up a habit!
I am also putting us back on the diet. You know the one that I impose on us several times a year until I lose 12- 15 lbs and then start to cook again to celebrate- which means pies and cupcakes until I get sick of it and go back to salad.
ugh.
nobody wants to see pictures of salad.
I also have been having a calamity with the camera and uploading pictures onto my computer. It works about half the time and the other half, it just doesn't and I have to reboot stuff and curse at it to make it work.
Have you noticed that complex machinery always responds to bashing and cursing? My husband taught me that. This is him from back in the 80's:
Anyway- Until I get further along with the 2 new dolls I started and then the list of things for the rest of the week, you will have to be patient with me until "we" figure out how to load the pictures in a faster way.
I get so frustrated with it- perhaps because before it was always so easy- just pop it in the gizmo. But, that was the laptop, this one is different and it is incompatible. Usually Mr Wizard does all that stuff for me and he spent some good time cursing over it yesterday while I bathed Sadie and gave her a manicure and blow dry, only to have him pronounce that I must continue to view pictures through printer and send to computer.
ugh
such a spoiled baby, I want it the old way.
i miss my gizmo.
anyway. We had gone to see Sweeney Todd and we were both still in a happy mood from that.
The Costumes.
The HBC.
The Johnny.
so Beautiful.
The music was lovely and the set and The Costumes were wonderfully dark and full of despair. I wouldn't touch one of Mrs Lovett's pies with a ten foot pole thank you, kindly!
Tim has done it again and I cannot wait for this to come out on DVD to add to my Burton Collection. I have them all except for ed Wood and Batman- oh, wait, maybe I do have Batman...can't remember- too lazy to go look! Here's a picture of Fred from 2 years ago when he was still playing with the band:
Isn't he cute? But I ruined him with the macaroni & cheese.
Yep.
Back on a diet.
Reigning it in.
whoa there!
It is just so difficult to stop the sugar.
but.
if I can quit smoking , which I did (5 years this Aug), then I certainly have enough self control to do this.
again.
anyway.
all a part of the new habits.
early to rise.
walk the dog.
get showered.
get to making stuff!
I am working on these two new dolls- they are small but oh, they will delight...
you wait and see....
anyway.
have a nice day, my calamities and lookout for those dog toys all over the floor- I wouldn't want any accidents here....

I was planning to put her on eBay because I started my own account, after using my Husband's for several years and I need to increase my feedback. He has 898 and I have 1 so far! I just bought some fabric so I will have 2 soon! teehee!
I crackled her face after painting it and I like the look- I used some wool roving from Picasso's Moon to create her hair...I'm going to go clean up the house now- it looks as if a cotton candy factory exploded around here! Bits of lace and pearls and shell buttons and sparkle all about!

She is waiting for her hair and make-up!
I auditioned several different kinds of ribbon and trims for the heart shaped velvet pockets and settled on a green velvet, only to run out after cutting 12 lengths.
Not wanting to go to the store, I switched it to tea-dyed lace.
I will make a paper tag for each numeral, 1-14, and attach to the heart also.
Then she will get her face and hair.
ahhh, Marie...

Yesterday I performed a small experiment. It was cold and a bit windy, but I needed to try something that I have seen in books and magazines and never really tried myself.
I wanted to distress this blood red velvet and make it seem older, more faded and perhaps shabby.
But I also wanted to make a pattern.
Using some inexpensive vinyl cutwork placemats- found at Publix Grocery in the napkin section- I put them on top of the dry velvet on the driveway and after weighting them down, I sprayed a fine mist of bleach over it.
Like a stencil, the placemat blocked part of the velvet and it was only a matter of minutes for the sunshine to help the bleach turn the red into a pretty faded color.
Not exactly pink or rust but nice.
I ran inside with it, being careful not to drip it through the living room and rinsed it in warm soapy water until it was bleach free. Then I pinned it to a hanger and dried it in the cool breeze.I'd have to say it was a success! I don't trust bleach, not in the long run, but I hope I will be dead before the velvet falls apart. I think there has to be a consequence to speeding up Mother Nature and pre-aging fabrics- but I love the look of faded, worn, rusty fabrics.
I go Thrifting a lot, but am very careful not to get anything with mildew. It will kill and spread and destroy your fabric.I also tried this bleach method on black cotton and it didn't imprint as well- maybe because the vinyl placemats were already wet. I should have been more patient, but I was having fun and felt too compelled to see what was going to happen! The black turned brownish-rust colored and will look appropriately ghostly as an Orphan's dress.

If it's this cold here- it's gotta be freezing where you are!
The only thing that I can attribute this weather to is Cheryl Prater brought it with her down from Atlanta. Thanks, Cher! Now, where is my down jacket? Or any jacket, for that matter!
I never thought I'd look forward to a hot flash- but after taking Sadie out this morning, I am!! brrrr....
I will be staying warm, working, in my little studio today!
We turn the heat on, once a year and today is the day!
Hope you all stay toasty today- winter will be gone for most of us by the weekend- so I'm going to enjoy this cold snap while I can!
Now, if it would only snow!!!!

Why is it that when you want to watch TV there is nothing on?
I was sewing yesterday and wanted to watch a movie.
Nothing.
Disappointed, I put in Constantine for the 27th time and after it was over I went to On Demand and watched some CSI: NY and tried some comedy.
The funniest thing though, was yesterday as I was clicking channels and came across the L Channel.
What at first seemed like a show with comediennes quickly became a show about Lesbian Comediennes.
Now, nobody asked for my two cents and I don't want to ruffle any feathers this early in the year, but, it must be a terrible thing to have to justify your sexuality all the time.
Like why do they have to?
Everyone is fairly non-judgmental at this point, aren't they?
Maybe it's just because I am non judgemental- they would still be funny without hitting me over the head with their sexual preference club.
I think that you should be valued for who you are, not who you sleep with.
That's between you and that person and your God or belief system.
It's none of my business.
So, as I sat and chuckled and watched these ladies crack wise about their partners and their mother's and everything else, I felt as if they were using their whole lives as material, just like any other comedienne and I realized that someday maybe when the questionnaire says check one, you might have to choose between:
male
female
gay
lesbian
trannie
cat
I say cat because I saw a show with a guy who had all this plastic surgery to transform himself into a cat.
Cheek implants.
Nose job.
Whisker implants.
Body tats of stripes.
Saving money for a tail.
Now don't get all stirred up and gather the villagers with torches and pitchforks, but really.
Becoming a Cat is a little overboard.
What's wrong with staying human and just getting a good costume?
Maybe that is why other countries think America is so decadent and crazy.
Come to America where you can be anything you want to be.
Personally, I think the Cat People should live in Katmandu! LOL
He reminds me of that commercial- "Roger, you tiger now!"
What a crazy world. I guess I do admire his commitment, though.
Sorry, just random thoughts while I try to finish my Valentines Day Project. I really want to talk about it, but I have to go finish it first! Hope you all have a lovely Wed! Happy New Year!
Maybe I could get the mermaid surgery...naw, I'd miss walking the dog... maybe I could be a unicorn?

sometimes the body parts really do remind me of Frankenstein's Lab. I imagine stories....Mrs Frankenstein and her Dolls....she used to sew all night while her Husband was still out late, working with his creepy assistant Igor.
She really couldn't stand to be idle, always keeping her hands busy.
Making her "girls" gave her something to do and then of course she spoke to them as they came together.
(They were such good company!)
Piece by Piece....
They listened to her whisper of dreams and snippets of songs as she half remembered the melody ...Little did she realize that with each prick of that sharp steal needle, those tiny drops of her blood were giving life to the dolls.

some decisions are really tough.
Like what to get on the pizza because you know you aren't gonna stop sewing to go to the store to get something to cook.
Some things like fabric choices and ribbon, laces and buttons just take too long unless I can see the finished doll in my mind.
In this instance I could see what I wanted but not the tiny details.
I am going to use the pattern to also make a flatter one- just with batting and thick interfacing instead of the actual stuffed 3 Dimensional doll.
This lady is big.
43 inches tall without her hair.
Her skirt is 22 inches at its widest width.
I think I might be able to finish her tomorrow. I am so excited!
Happy First Day of 2008 Everyone!
